CLIMATE
Temperate grasslands have hot summers and cold winters. Summer temperatures can be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, while winter temperatures is as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit. During the year the annual precipitation is between 10 and 35 inches of rain, most of it is during the late spring and early summer. Snow is often used as a reservoir of moisture for the beginning of the growing season. Seasonal drought and fires help maintain these grasslands.
